Very Shady Indeed!

Very Shady Indeed!

Shade City is the newest city in Blue Mars, and shows potential for being a very interesting place.

For now, there is only one structure in the city, and it’s a highly original one at that.  The two floor, circular building is supported by fanciful, organic pillars that sweep about the space, evoking a feeling of other worldliness.  There’s also ample sitting areas located throughout the pavilion, with excellent views of the surrounding woods and ocean.  There’s even a nice shiny red motorcycle parked outside, but we couldn’t get it to do anything, despite it being clickable.

Upon leaving the main building, we were presented with a gorgeous wilderness that seems to stretch on forever.  The parklike setting is a great space to explore, or just relax in.  The trees are expertly placed alongside good sized boulders, and the terrain is mildly hilly, making it easy to navigate yet still visually entertaining.  Much like Beach City, hiking in Shade City could be a great pastime; there’s a huge space to explore that’s teeming with excellent spaces to take photos.

Another space that can be explored is the ocean of Shade City.  While there isn’t anything of particular interest in the ocean, there are some nifty visual tricks that some might enjoy.  For one, the waves are real, and they add a considerable amount of resistance to your walking, much like real ocean waves.

Also, if a wave hits your camera, the water drops flow down the screen, just as if you were filming the whole thing with a real camera!

Since Shade City seems relatively new and underdeveloped, we have no gripes about what is already here.  It’s obvious that its intent is to serve as a social space, with lots of views and places to take a walk with that special someone.  Perhaps some marked trails that highlight spots of interest are in the works for in the forest?
