Under the Venezian Sea

A Tale of Two Cities
We’ve heard word that there will be an underwater city of sorts coming to Venezia, and it looks like it’s taking shape already.
The submersed portion of the growing locale is very different from the topside. Whereas the buildings on land are very classical in design, the undersea quarter is very futuristic, almost alien.

Another View of the Undersea Neighborhood
All of these building are rounded, with rounded, glowing windows. Also, they seem to all be interconnected by a series of tubes, though these tubes appear to be too small for walkways, so it’s not apparent what their actual purpose is. The buildings themselves seem somewhat small, but some of them are embedded in the sea floor, so they may be larger inside than they appear.

One of the Tubes Entering an Underwater Structure
One thing that came to mind is that these may be simply design mockups to test the space. The tubes that connect the buildings are very small, though they may be pneumatic and suck you through to the other side headfirst; who knows?
We’re also thinking that this may be some kind of hotel where guests can stay and watch submarines and schools of fish dance in front of the big open windows. Some mermaids might even take up residence in the sea, but that’s something we’ll all have to wait on a while to find out for sure.
